Six-Pack Of Love is the third solo album from Peter Case, who first gained notoriety with the San Francisco-based Nerves and then, as founder of Los Angeles' legendary Plimsouls. His solo debut, the 1986 self-titled Peter Case, was praised by Rolling Stone as "a pull-out-the-stops masterpiece." The Los Angeles Times and Washington Post named the ironically-titled follow-up, The Man With The Blue Postmodern Fragmented Neo-Traditionalist Guitar, among the best releases of 1989. On Six-Pack Of Love, co-produced by Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Crowded House), Case wrote in collaboration with notables John Prine, Billy Swan and Tonio K. among others. The band on the album includes bassist Bruce Thomas (Elvis Costello and The Attractions), guitarist Michael Den Elzen, drummer Gary Mallaber (Van Morrison), and producer Mitchell Froom doubling on keyboards.
