Six-Pack
Of Love is the third solo album from Peter Case, who first gained
notoriety with the San Francisco-based Nerves and then, as founder
of Los Angeles' legendary Plimsouls. His solo debut, the 1986 self-titled
Peter Case, was praised by Rolling Stone as "a pull-out-the-stops
masterpiece." The Los Angeles Times and Washington Post
named the ironically-titled follow-up, The Man With The Blue
Postmodern Fragmented Neo-Traditionalist Guitar, among the best
releases of 1989. On Six-Pack Of Love, co-produced by Mitchell
Froom (Elvis Costello, Crowded House), Case wrote in collaboration
with notables John Prine, Billy Swan and Tonio K. among others.
The band on the album includes bassist Bruce Thomas (Elvis Costello
and The Attractions), guitarist Michael Den Elzen, drummer Gary
Mallaber (Van Morrison), and producer Mitchell Froom doubling on
keyboards.
